Rakumba Lighting, an Australian heritage luxury lighting brand with over 55 years of history, designs and produces authentic, contemporary lighting for high-end architectural, hospitality, and residential clients globally. Our team is united by a passion for "Making Beauty," creating an exciting legacy through our work. This role is central to that mission.
The Role
You will be the crucial link connecting the conception of a Rakumba light to its beautiful realisation in a project worldwide. As the initial and trusted point of contact for our clients, you will oversee the entire customer journey from first inquiry to delivered product.
Reporting to the Operations Manager and collaborating with a high-performing team, you will manage client interactions. You will be the primary contact for architects, designers, project clients, and international channel partners. Your responsibilities will include converting inquiries into quotes, quotes into orders, and ensuring timely, accurate delivery of lighting solutions, maintaining clear communication and momentum throughout the process.
This is a role offering variety, pace, and significant ownership. You will be empowered to find answers, resolve project challenges, and become an indispensable team member and a valued point of contact for clients.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact via phone and the shared sales inbox, managing and directing inquiries.
- Prepare quotes and pro forma invoices, process and confirm orders, manage modifications, and track each job to keep clients and channel partners informed.
- Coordinate local and international freight, including associated documentation.
- Handle after-sales support, including parts, replacements, and warranty inquiries, and direct technical questions to the appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to gather information and facilitate project progression.
About You:
A passion for design and building strong relationships is essential. You are a fast learner and a quick thinker, adept at moving and operating at a high pace. Your positive and energetic approach draws people to you. You possess polished, professional, and clear communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
You are meticulous and organised, with a desire for precision. Strong numeracy and accuracy are key, demonstrated by your ability to double-check quotes, reconcile invoices, and identify errors. You can effectively filter and prioritise multiple tasks without becoming flustered by changes. Reliability, genuine care, and an openness to feedback for continuous improvement are valued. You are consistently described as competent.
Essentially, you are someone who makes positive outcomes happen.
Skills & Experience:
We are willing to train the right candidate, prioritising attitude and aptitude. The following will be beneficial:
- Strong customer service instincts, with clear written and verbal communication.
- Experience in B2B customer service and sales/order administration, including quoting, order processing, invoicing, and job management (ideal).

- Sharp attention to detail, effective time management, and a positive, energetic attitude.
- Some exposure to freight or export processes (a bonus, not essential).
- An interest in, or experience within, the design or lighting field.
