About the role: As a Department Manager at Bunnings, your responsibilities will include overseeing the daily operations, sales, and high-volume stock management within your specialised department. You will collaborate with fellow Department Managers in areas such as Service, Inside the Home, Builders, and Lifestyles & Garden. This role reports directly to your Operations and Complex Manager. You will lead a team of 20+ team members, ensuring efficiency and organisation to provide an excellent customer experience. Your role will contribute to driving Service and Operations by training and developing your team, delivering the Best Experience to our customers, and ensuring your department showcases our Widest Range and Best Prices. You will monitor and measure customer service levels, liaise with Merchandising, Store Leadership, and H&S teams, and build strong relationships with suppliers. This role requires a minimum of 1 in 3 weekend roster and some public holiday work.

What's involved:

  • Lead a team of over 20 members to maintain an engaged and safe work environment.
  • Perform duty manager responsibilities, including opening and closing the store on weekdays and weekends.
  • Build team capability in Best Experience and Safety Culture & Compliance, including team engagement, performance management, and recognition.
  • Manage team rostering and strategic planning to meet service commitments.
  • Drive department sales through effective merchandising and monitoring of key metrics.
  • Action customer feedback to enhance the end-to-end customer experience.
  • Own department stock accuracy, including adjustments, replenishment discipline, and loss prevention processes.

Who we're looking for: We are seeking a highly driven individual with strong leadership and influencing skills for the Department Manager role. Previous experience in leading teams with a focus on Safety and Wellbeing, and Specialist products, is preferred. The ability to develop teams and foster a healthy work environment is essential. You must be able to adapt to various responsibilities, influence multiple stakeholders, and understand KPIs and exceeding customer expectations.

You'll need:

  • A genuine passion for customer experience.
  • The ability to approach, connect with, and confidently interact with customers and teams.
  • To act with integrity, be safe, and do your best.
  • An ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
