Position Overview
The Despatch Leading Hand is tasked with supervising despatch operations and coordinating daily delivery activities to ensure orders are accurately picked, packed, and dispatched within established timeframes. This role also involves supporting the planning of Melbourne Metro and rural deliveries, including the allocation of truck drivers, and assisting with forklift operations, order processing, and system updates.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee despatch operations to ensure orders are picked, packed, and dispatched accurately and on time.
- Plan and coordinate Melbourne Metro and rural deliveries, including the allocation of truck drivers.
- Support forklift operations, order processing, and accurate completion of paperwork and system updates.
- Maintain yard organisation, safe vehicle movements, and secure storage of trucks and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with WHS requirements and promote a strong safety culture across the site.
- Liaise with customer service and transport providers to resolve delivery issues and maintain accurate outbound records.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, despatch, or team leadership role.
- Current forklift licence and hands-on operating experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lead by example.
