About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Distribution Centre Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Melbourne distribution centre in Epping during a period of significant expansion. As our retail and e-commerce operations scale, this newly established leadership position will assume responsibility for the warehouse floor and our team. You will work collaboratively with the team, leading operations across receiving, picking, packing, and dispatch. Key aspects of this role include team development, maintaining inventory accuracy, and driving the continuous improvement of our systems and processes for a diverse product range, from headphones to pallet-sized items.
Working hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, roster, train, and develop the warehouse team, enhancing capability as the operation grows.
- Manage high-volume, multi-channel fulfilment (e-commerce and retail) from receiving through to dispatch.
- Safeguard inventory accuracy across approximately 1,200 pallet locations via cycle counting, stocktakes, and reconciliation.
- Drive continuous improvement and optimisation of warehouse systems, layout, and workflow to support a scaling operation.
- Introduce and embed scanning technology to improve accuracy and productivity.
- Secure and control high-value stock and maintain robust stock controls.
- Own warehouse safety and compliance (WHS Act 2011), ensuring safe systems of work.
Skills and Experience
- Must reside in and hold valid working rights in Australia.
- 5+ years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, or logistics role, including team leadership.
- Proven track record of achieving and maintaining high inventory accuracy.
- Hands-on experience in both paper-based and scanner-based (RF/barcode) environments.
- Demonstrated experience optimising warehouse management systems (WMS) and warehouse processes.
- Demonstrated change management experience, ideally in a scaling operation.
- Sound knowledge of warehouse WHS obligations and safe systems of work.
- Forklift licence (LF) is mandatory before commencement.
- A police background check is mandatory.
Desirable Experience
- Experience implementing or transitioning warehouse management systems.
- Experience handling high-value or consumer electronics / audio stock.
