Sarina & District Community Financial Services Ltd (SDCFSL) is a publicly unlisted company that operates Community Bank Sarina, a Bendigo Bank branch. We are a profit-for-purpose organisation, locally owned and managed, with a 21-year history of reinvesting over $5 million into our community through grants, sponsorships, donations, and scholarships.
SDCFSL is overseen by a local Board of Directors. The company plays a vital role in ensuring Community Bank Sarina operates as a sustainable commercial enterprise while achieving significant community impact throughout the greater Sarina district.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Governance Officer to contribute to the effective operation of the Board and its Committees through robust governance, compliance, and high-quality coordination. Reporting to the Chair and Company Secretary, this position is accountable for the diligent management, accuracy, and compliance of governance frameworks, statutory obligations, and Board processes.
This role is offered on a part-time basis, requiring 15–20 hours per week, with flexibility and a hybrid working arrangement. Some meetings outside of standard hours and occasional local travel may be necessary.
About You
You are a professional with a keen eye for governance, valuing accuracy, integrity, and accountability. You may have prior experience supporting a Board or Committees, or you might be an emerging professional pursuing studies or career progression in law, accounting, governance, or a related field, seeking practical experience working closely with a Board.
Key attributes include:
- Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare agendas and take minutes.
- A sound understanding of corporate governance principles and compliance requirements.
- High organisational skills, with the capacity to manage deadlines and work independently.
- Professional judgment, discretion, and a commitment to confidentiality.
- Confidence in interacting with senior stakeholders, regulators, and external advisors.
- Qualifications in governance, law, business, accounting, or public administration, or progress towards these, are highly regarded. Qualifications from the Governance Institute of Australia (GIA) or AICD, or progress towards them, will also be well regarded.
