Queensland Corrective Services seeks an Information Officer to join their team in Brisbane.
The successful applicant will demonstrate applied knowledge, skills, and experience against the following essential requirements for this individual contributor leadership role:
- Understanding and application of Queensland Government Information Management legislation, Information Standards, policy, and procedure relevant to recordkeeping.
- Demonstrated administrative skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases such as electronic recordkeeping systems.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality customer service.
The primary accountabilities of the Information Officer include:
- Working independently and as part of a team to manage records throughout their lifecycle (create, capture, manage, store, and destroy) in compliance with legislation and Queensland Government standards.
- Applying attention to detail and appropriate system methodology when using the digital recordkeeping system.
- Contributing to the development of records management tools that support best practice processes, including business classification schemes, thesaurus, metadata standards, and retention and disposal schedules.
- Actively contributing to the development of QCS records management procedures and guidelines, and proposing initiatives to the Information Officer Supervisor for improved business processes and efficiencies.
- Ensuring fulfillment of service standards, service level agreements, operating procedures, and other matters relevant to the records section's services.
- Providing information and records management education, assistance, and training to state-wide QCS staff, either onsite or offsite, covering relevant systems, tools, policy, procedure, and best practice.
- Offering recommendations on best practice information and records management to the Information Officer Supervisor, clients, and stakeholders. Undertaking directed activities in response to current and emerging issues affecting digital records management, including risk assessment, system analysis, and recordkeeping compliance.
- Communicating professionally and appropriately with a variety of external and internal stakeholders and team members, in line with the Code of Conduct.
- Undertaking general administrative duties, including ordering office consumables, filing, and other tasks as required to meet priorities.
