Lecturer in Computing and Information Technology

The University of Newcastle is seeking to appoint three full-time, continuing Lecturers (Academic Level B) in Computing and Information Technology. These positions are part of a strategic initiative to expand capability in high-impact digital technology areas.

The School of Computer and Information Sciences is coordinating this recruitment to build strength in the following areas:

  • Trustworthy and secure artificial intelligence
  • AI engineering and machine learning systems
  • Cybersecurity and secure software systems
  • Human-centred computing and responsible digital technologies

About the Role

Successful candidates will hold a PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field, and should demonstrate specialisation in one or more of the priority areas listed. The School is committed to developing a collaborative research and education cluster, offering opportunities to contribute to innovative teaching, interdisciplinary research, and industry-engaged programs.

Appointees will join a dynamic School encompassing Computing and IT, Data Science and Statistics, and Mathematics, facilitating cross-disciplinary work and the development of impactful research and education programs. The University invites applications from outstanding Level B candidates whose expertise aligns with these priority areas, including those who can enhance an ambitious and collaborative growth program within the School. The University will consider how these Level B appointments can best contribute to a coherent, high-performing Computing and Information Technology team, while also recognising the strengths of exceptional individual applicants. The timing of these Level B appointments will be aligned with the outcome of Professor recruitment.
