Delaware North Australia is seeking a full-time Operations Manager – Merchandise for our team at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The MCG is a globally recognised sporting venue, hosting events such as AFL Grand Finals, international cricket, major concerts, and blockbuster events. In this role, you will oversee the MCG Shop and event-day retail operations, aiming to deliver memorable merchandise experiences that connect fans with significant moments. Responsibilities:
- Lead, direct, and continuously enhance operational activities to meet financial targets, profit margins, and business expansion goals.
- Provide leadership and coaching to cultivate talent and develop an engaged workforce within the venue.
- Collaborate closely with the Warehouse Manager and Shop Manager to achieve effective operational outcomes.
- Manage operations to ensure compliance with all legislative regulations, standards, and performance expectations.
- Develop and monitor operational metrics across the business in conjunction with the Financial Analyst.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the growth of the Delaware North brand.
- Undertake non-match day planning to maximise and deliver major events.
About You:
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the capacity to manage large, functional teams.
- A Bachelor's degree in merchandise management, business management, or hospitality is strongly preferred.
- The ability to engage a workforce, provide motivation, and offer clear direction within a safe and respectful working environment.
- An understanding of relevant legislative regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards.
- Strong business acumen, with a focus on sales and commercial growth.
- The capacity to quickly identify opportunities and implement them.
- A high level of attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
