Merchandise Planner
TwoScots Recruitment is seeking a Merchandise Planner for a leading national retail business. This full-time, onsite position is based at their Melbourne head office. The salary offered is $100,000 to $110,000 per annum plus superannuation.
This is a hands-on planning role within a high-volume, fast-paced retail environment, providing extensive exposure to end-to-end merchandise planning and close collaboration with the Buying team. The role is ideal for an experienced Planner aiming to increase their commercial influence and advance their career within a structured, collaborative planning team.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of the merchandise strategy through detailed forecasting and analysis.
- Build and manage sales, stock, and margin plans at item, range, and category levels.
- Support seasonal range reviews through performance analysis, SWOT insights, and post-season reviews.
- Manage in-season trade, including sales, stock flow, markdowns, and purchase timing in partnership with the Buyer.
- Develop purchase and stock flow plans to support the Strategic Sales Plan.
- Optimise inventory distribution across Distribution Centres and stores to maximise sales and gross profit.
- Provide regular reporting and insights to support commercial decision-making.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Merchandise Planner or Planning Analyst within a retail environment.
- Hands-on exposure to forecasting, Open-to-Buy, trade, and inventory management.
- Strong analytical capability with advanced Excel skills.
- Comfortable working closely with Buyers in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to translate data into practical recommendations.
- Experience with merchandise planning systems is advantageous (e.g. Pronto, AP21, Foresight, SAP), but not essential.
