Hospitals North is responsible for a wide array of healthcare services, encompassing the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) and eight regional Primary Health sites. The LGH, Tasmania's second-largest hospital, serves as the primary referral centre for Northern Tasmania, delivering inpatient, ambulatory, and extensive outpatient services to Launceston and its surrounding areas. As the region's largest employer with approximately 3,800 staff, Hospitals North's services collaborate closely to achieve healthcare excellence for consumers, the workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role
This Office Manager position is within the Office of the Chief Executive Hospitals North, supporting the Chief Executive and the Executive Director of Operations and Performance (EDOP) Hospitals North.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating the provision of high-quality administrative support to the Chief Executive and EDOP, encompassing staff rostering and resource allocation.
- Overseeing the Office's document workflow, including the distribution, tracking, filing, and security of often complex, specialised, and/or confidential information.
- Conducting regular reviews of the Office's procedures, systems, and processes to facilitate continuous quality improvement.
- Supervising administrative staff within the Office, providing support, direction, and performance review.
Requirements
You will need:
- A demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a health service environment, coupled with broad experience in office management and information software and systems. Knowledge and experience in administration and executive correspondence management are also essential.
- High-level interpersonal, communication, consultation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. This includes the capacity to supervise, lead, and motivate a team, applying initiative and sound judgement with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated high-level planning, organisation, and coordination skills, along with the ability to recommend and decide appropriate actions in an environment subject to work pressure, competing priorities, ambiguity, and change.

Details of Appointment
This is a permanent, full-time, day worker position, requiring 76 hours per fortnight. Commencement is desired as soon as possible. Hours are to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
This selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time, part-time, and casual vacancies for a period of twelve months from the date of publication.
Salary
$85,196 to $97,915 per annum, plus a 12% employer superannuation contribution. The salary range aligns with the Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2025.
