Performance Pathways Administrator

Basketball NSW

Full-time

Salary: $65,000 - $70,000 per annum + superannuation

Basketball NSW (BNSW) is the governing body for basketball in New South Wales, focused on increasing participation, supporting athlete and coach development, and pursuing excellence across all levels of the sport. About the Role

This position is for an organised individual who thrives on managing schedules, spreadsheets, and stakeholder communications. You will possess clear communication skills, a commitment to follow-through, and the ability to build trust with coaches, parents, and officials. While detail-oriented, you will also be adaptable, comfortable with tasks ranging from managing team uniforms to overseeing a coach accreditation database. You will bring energy and initiative, balanced with reliability. Your duties will include drafting newsletters and coordinating logistics for state teams. A passion for sport and a desire to contribute to positive experiences for athletes, coaches, and communities are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative & Operational Support
  • Manage program and event registrations, payments, and communications.
  • Maintain current databases for athletes, coaches, and officials.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and budgets.
  • Maintain digital filing systems and document templates.
  • State Teams
  • Administer Metropolitan and Country State Teams, including U20’s, Ivor Burge, and Junior Wheelchair Teams, covering accommodation, transport, and uniforms.
  • Coordinate trial and camp dates, state team coach applications, and team/trial announcements.
  • Liaise with Basketball Australia on administrative requirements.
  • Coach & Program Support
  • Administer the Basketball Australia coach accreditation system, including registrations, renewals, and records.
  • Support the delivery of workshops, clinics, conferences, development camps, and high-performance events, both in-person and online.
  • Liaise with coaches, parents, and associations regarding program details and requirements.
  • Support the administration of Performance Pathways Programs and Development Tours.
  • Event & Communication Management
  • Coordinate event communications, social media, and newsletters.
  • Support photography, video, and content capture for events and programs.
  • Prepare and distribute official correspondence, schedules, and results.
  • Assist with marketing materials and website updates for development programs.
  • Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to BNSW policies, including child safety and risk management protocols.
  • Monitor the status of Working with Children Checks for staff and volunteers.
  • Assist with the management of confidential records and incident reporting.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of new program initiatives.
  • Contribute to office administration and team culture activities.
  • Serve as the point of contact for regional coaching and development inquiries.
  • Provide administrative assistance for grant applications and reporting within the Performance Pathways area.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the General Manager - Performance Pathways.

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and demonstrated customer service skills.
  • A problem solver with a proactive approach and proven initiative.
  • Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Event coordination experience.
  • A valid Working with Children Check – Employment.
  • Full working rights in Australia.

Desirable Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a sports administration role or similar.
  • Proven experience in sport or event administration.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Basketball Connect database.
  • Some out-of-office hours and weekend work will be required.
