Design Group Australia, a rapidly expanding wholesale supplier of general merchandise to prominent national retail brands and independent retailers, is seeking a Product Assistant for a part-time contract role (Maternity Leave, 4 days per week) within its dynamic Product team. Located onsite in Dandenong South, this role focuses predominantly on the hair accessories category.

About the Role:
This is a part-time (4 days per week) maternity leave contract position. The role offers an opportunity to learn, grow, and develop within a profitable and expanding business. The team prides itself on a positive, #EPIC culture that values both culture and productivity.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create and design product formats for assigned product lines, ensuring optimal design selection.
- Monitor product production and maintain production reports.
- Prepare quotes and negotiate pricing with suppliers to secure competitive rates.
- Collaborate with the Product Manager to compile product quotes and orders in Excel.
- Organise company catalogues and Product Releases by required deadlines.
- Support the creation of design briefs for the Studio.
- Coordinate FSC and packaging approvals.
- Review product catalogues and product releases.
- Maintain showrooms with relevant products and ensure areas are kept tidy.
- Develop market understanding, including competitor products and pricing, to ensure competitive product offerings.
- Perform general administrative duties.
Qualifications:
- Some experience in retail and an office environment would be beneficial.
Skills:
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- An ability to manage time effectively by prioritising tasks and meeting agreed timeframes.
- Self-motivation, energy, and confidence.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail to minimise errors.
- Organisational skills to manage workload and follow up effectively.
- Competency in the MS Office suite, with expertise in Excel.
- Experience using SAP would be ideal.
