A private advertiser in Rowville is seeking an experienced industry professional for a part-time, onsite Product & Buying role. This position is within a long-established, family-owned wholesale jewellery business that has supplied retailers across Australia for over 40 years.

This is a hands-on opportunity within a small, supportive team. The successful candidate will be responsible for product development, buying, and supplier management. Close collaboration with the Director is expected for range direction, key decisions, and overall product strategy.

The ideal candidate will be capable and confident working independently, possessing strong judgement and a practical understanding of product and buying within a wholesale or retail jewellery environment. The role requires managing priorities to deliver results that support the business's continued growth.

• An hourly rate of $34-$39, plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.

The Role: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Sourcing products, requesting pricing, ordering, and reviewing/selecting samples.
• Developing ranges suitable for the customer base, with product decisions guided by target market preferences.
• Working closely with the Director on range direction and final product selections.
• Placing and managing purchase orders, and overseeing timelines and deliveries.
• Setting pricing and margins in line with business expectations.
• Identifying top-selling and slow-moving items, and areas requiring range enhancement.
• Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, including negotiating pricing and resolving product or quality issues.
• Communicating product quality reminders before shipments.
• Conducting quality and weight checks on imported stock when required.
• Monitoring stock levels, managing replenishment and special orders, and following up on deliveries.
• Reviewing sales performance and adjusting buying decisions accordingly.
• Staying informed about market trends and retail customer responses.
• Collaborating with Marketing to support product launches and promotions.

About You: You will bring:

• A minimum of 3 years' experience in product development or buying within wholesale or retail jewellery.
• Experience working with international suppliers and managing imports.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly for supplier liaison.
• Thorough knowledge of diamonds, gemstones, and precious metals.
• Experience managing suppliers and negotiating effectively.
• A solid understanding of margins, pricing, and stock management.
• Strong commercial judgement with exceptional attention to detail.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and strong overall tech capability.
• Professional maturity, integrity, reliability, and a reputation for trustworthiness.
