Brisbane Catholic Education is seeking a School Officer (First Nations Student Support) for a contract position at Xavier Catholic College in Hervey Bay.

About Xavier Catholic College: Xavier Catholic College is a co-educational K-12 College established in 2003 and operated by Brisbane Catholic Education. A Kindergarten program was introduced in 2013, administered by Catholic Early EdCare. The College caters to over 1340 students from Prep to Year 12 and continues to grow. Its mission is to provide an inclusive, high-quality Catholic education that encourages student engagement and motivation.

The Opportunity: This role will involve supporting teachers in delivering strategies to enhance the learning and success of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students across all subjects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting with the planning, preparation, and delivery of effective learning and teaching programs, incorporating technology and learning support activities.
• Monitoring student progress and identifying areas for evidence-based intervention strategies.
• Improving student learning outcomes by providing support and advice for students with diverse learning needs.
• Collaborating with school specialists to organise and assist intervention groups and coordinate services.
• Documenting observation notes, intervention programs, and assisting in the collation and preparation of classroom materials.

About You: To be successful in this position, you will possess relevant contemporary skills and experience, including:

• Strong skills in planning, preparing, and delivering effective teaching programs.
• Ability to monitor student progress and apply evidence-based interventions.
• Expertise in supporting diverse learning needs to improve student outcomes.
• Collaborative skills to work with specialists and coordinate intervention groups.
• Proficiency in documenting observations, managing intervention programs, and preparing classroom materials.
• A Certificate III in Education Support.
• Identified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background is advantageous.
• You are not required to be Catholic for this position.

• End Date: End of 2026 School Year
• Work Hours: 32.5 hours per week
• Salary: School Officer Level 3 - $34.17 per hour + 12.75% Superannuation (School Salary Scale)
• Work Type: Contract
• Work Arrangement: Onsite
