Job Description

Summary

St Peter Claver College, Riverview, seeks a full-time Secondary English Teacher for a fixed-term contract from 13 July 2026 to 25 June 2027. This role involves fostering a passion for learning in students while upholding the values, mission, and principles of Catholic Education.

  • Contract Dates: 13 July 2026 - 25 June 2027
  • Work Hours: 30.00 hours per week
  • Salary: $86,601- $124,725 per annum + super (commensurate with experience)

About the Opportunity

St Peter Claver College, Riverview, is looking for a passionate Secondary English Teacher committed to engaging students through rich literacy learning, critical thinking, and meaningful classroom experiences. We seek an educator with strong subject knowledge, a love of language, and a dedication to contributing positively to our faith-based school community.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Creating a nurturing and ordered learning environment that is learner-centred, supportive, cooperative, and aligned with relevant curriculum policies, documents, and practices.
  • Collaboratively developing and implementing quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy, evaluating their effectiveness, and assessing and reporting student progress and learning outcomes to students, parents, and the community.
  • Working collaboratively with the leadership team, teachers, and other staff members to contribute to the professional life of the school and foster a positive school culture.
  • Proactively engaging with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Establishing positive relationships in the pastoral care of students and supporting their spiritual and moral development.
  • Ensuring that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.

To succeed in this position, you will possess relevant contemporary skills and experience, including:

  • Creating a supportive, learner-focused classroom aligned with the Australian Curriculum.
  • Expertise in designing and delivering effective curriculum programs in line with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
  • Commitment to engaging with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to enrich learning experiences and achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
  • A passion to support students' spiritual and moral development.

You are not required to be Catholic for this position.

Eligibility and Safeguarding Requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
  • Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
