Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor (Professionalism Panel Lead)

Curtin University is seeking a Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor (Professionalism Panel Lead) for a part-time, onsite role at its Bentley campus. The salary is $144,512 - $191,099 (ALC/ALD pro rata, + 17% super).

This position is central to upholding the integrity and alignment of the Professionalism Panels within the MBBS program. In collaboration with Unit Coordinators, Domain Leads, the Course Coordinator, and students, this role is essential for ensuring the curriculum meets the highest standards of professionalism and aligns with the Australian Medical Council (AMC) graduate outcomes.

This role supports the governance and quality assurance of the MBBS program, with a specific focus on maintaining the integrity and effective operation of Professional Behaviour and Registration Panels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Panel Oversight and Documentation: Ensure the MBBS Professional Behaviour and Registration Panels and their processes are well-documented, operate efficiently, and adhere to exemplary, timely record-keeping standards.
  • Advisory Role: Provide critical advice to the Associate Dean/Dean HOS/Course Coordinator concerning the outcomes of professionalism issues, influencing Board of Examiner decisions.
  • Support for CMS Activities: Contribute to various CMS activities, including ethics/medico-legal teaching and involvement in student selection for the MBBS course. The role will focus on maintaining impartiality in high-stakes decisions regarding student professionalism and making recommendations to the Board of Examiners. In conjunction with the Course Coordinator/Unit Coordinators/Domain Leads/Senior Leadership/Curtin University teams, the position offers advice on professionalism-related student matters. Key aspects include ensuring panels are well-coordinated, consistently documented, and supported by high-quality record keeping.

Selection Criteria:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • A medical degree qualification or a postgraduate degree in a health profession.
  • A PhD qualification (desirable).
  • Current AHPRA registration as a medical/health practitioner and experience within the Australian healthcare system.
  • Demonstrated experience in health/medical education, with a clear focus on professionalism, leadership, and ethical practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams and strengthening connections, employing a reflective and innovative approach.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on cross-cultural interactions and understanding.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, including time, resource, and self-management.
  • Demonstrated written skills, including the ability to produce detailed reports and clear documentation of processes.

Role Requirements:
