Teacher, Conservation and Ecosystem Management

TAFE Gippsland is seeking a qualified and experienced Conservation and Ecosystem Management (CEM) expert for an ongoing Part Time (0.6 FTE, 22.8 hours per week) role. This position is based at the Morwell Campus and involves delivering Certificate III and Diploma in Conservation & Ecosystem Management courses to TAFE Gippsland students and secondary school students through the VET Delivered to Secondary Schools (VDSS) program.

About the Role

As an Educator in CEM, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering high-quality classroom-based training and assessment.
  • Conducting practical skills training in simulated workplace environments.
  • Developing inventive learning resources and assessments.
  • Equipping students with the skills and knowledge for successful careers in CEM.

  • Salary: $84,618 – $128,887 per year (pro rata) + super (dependent on teaching qualifications).
  • Reporting Line: Reports to the Program Manager Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation.
  • Ideal Start Date: To be confirmed.
  • Office Expectations: Onsite.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Mandatory:
  • Minimum Diploma of Conservation and Land Management or related studies (e.g., Natural Resource Management, Horticulture, Agriculture) at that level or higher.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working in conservation and land management fields.
  • Experience in Coastal Conservation, Erosion Control, Intertidal Marine monitoring, Water Sampling and Testing.
  • Desirable:
  • Bachelor of Environmental Science or related studies at that level or higher.
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent):
  • While not a prerequisite to apply, this qualification is mandatory for all teaching staff. Support will be provided to the successful applicant, including financial sponsorship, a paid workday per week to attend TAFE Gippsland courses, and a mentor to assist the transition from industry to teaching.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current Victorian Working with Children Clearance.
  • Current Police Check (not older than 12 months).
  • Current Driver’s License (travel to other Campuses may be required).
  • A six-month probationary period applies.
