Teacher - Head of Sport

The Opportunity
Nowra Anglican College seeks an energetic, innovative, and organised Head of Sport (K-12) to lead, oversee, and enhance all aspects of our school-based and representative sports programs. This is a key leadership role for a professional passionate about building community spirit, developing elite and inclusive sporting pathways, and mentoring both staff and students. The successful candidate will champion the College's Christian vision and values, integrating them into the sporting life of the College and utilising the Building Learning Power teaching framework.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Director of Student Wellbeing, your leadership will include:
- Program Leadership: Overseeing the K-12 sporting calendar, managing event compliance (including risk assessments and transport), and directing the Sports Administrator.
- Carnivals & Weekly Sport: Leading major Senior and Junior School carnivals (Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics) and coordinating secondary weekly sports options.
- Representative Pathways: Representing the College at SASSA and AICES forums, managing student selections, and communicating with parents.
- Community Culture: Elevating school spirit, celebrating student achievements, and sourcing and deploying qualified coaches.
- Pastoral Care: Collaborating with wellbeing staff to support students in balancing academic and sporting demands.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- An active and sensitive commitment to the Christian gospel, its values, and its place within an independent Anglican school context, including active involvement in a local church.
- A recognized teaching degree (e.g., Bachelor of Education or post-graduate teaching qualifications) and eligibility for accreditation with the NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA).
- A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Outstanding organisational and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to manage busy daily operations and work effectively under time pressure.
- The capacity to liaise warmly and professionally with a diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, including parents, students, local sports vendors, and SASSA/AICES officials.
