Maningrida College, situated in one of the Northern Territory's largest Aboriginal communities, 550 km east of Darwin, seeks a Trainer Assessor to deliver competency-based Training and Assessment programs. This role focuses on nationally accredited Vocational Education and Training (VET) packages for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander secondary school students. You will join the secondary team to foster innovation and student engagement, aiming to improve completion rates, primarily in Certificate 1 Maritime (Coxswains grade 2 near coastal).

The College serves approximately 660 students from preschool to senior years and extends education services to up to 15 Homeland Learning Centres. It encompasses a Family and Children Centre, Families as First Teachers program, Trade Training Centre, Learning on Country Program, and an Indigenous Languages and Culture Team. Maningrida College is committed to creating pathways for all secondary students through strong partnerships with community organisations and stakeholders, integrating vocational education into senior secondary years.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver Certificate 1 Maritime (Coxswains grade 2 near coastal) (MAR10413) competency-based training and assessment to VET for Secondary students, including face-to-face instruction within the school environment.
• Collaborate with staff within the VET and Secondary teams.
• Complete all RTO administration tasks in a timely manner, including enrolments, learning plans, session overviews, course preparation, assessment delivery, student records, student reports, and final assessment documentation.
• Develop and review training and assessment resources to support the delivery of accredited competencies and qualifications, with a focus on meeting the needs of English as an Additional Dialect (EAL/D) learners.
• Develop a range of delivery models to support effective engagement in VET programs and provide reasonable adjustments to meet student needs, including literacy and numeracy support where required.
• Ensure effective written and oral communication and engagement within the college and with external agencies.
• Work collaboratively with teams across the college.
• Attend professional development as required to enhance skills in vocational training, learning, and assessment, including maintaining industry currency.
• Maintain the Maningrida College vessel and Trade Training Centre in an orderly and functional manner, adhering to school-based, Department, and industry policies and procedures.

Selection Criteria:

• Essential: Currently hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or possess the ability to attain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in conjunction with extensive boating experience and knowledge.
• Currently hold or be willing to obtain a Certificate 1 in Maritime Operations, Coxswains grade 2 near coastal, or a higher qualification.
• Demonstrated knowledge and appropriate written and oral communication skills to develop and implement training and assessment as required by the VET Quality Framework (VQF) and Training Package Assessment Guidelines.
• Ability to manage and demonstrate participation in professional development programs, ensuring national teaching standards are maintained for registration with the NT TRB and that industry currency requirements are met.
• Ability to work flexibly, manage pressure and time in changing environments, and adapt approaches to suit diverse individuals and situations.
• Proven ability to interact effectively with teams in a cross-cultural environment.
• Willingness to learn and apply school-wide practices, such as trauma-informed behaviour support.

Registration or the ability to obtain registration with the Teacher Registration Board of the NT (Authority to teach category 5) and a Working with Children Card (Ochre) are required for this position.
