Yachting and Training Coordinator

The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC) is seeking a dedicated Yachting and Training Coordinator to contribute to the execution of our racing and sail training initiatives. This full-time, onsite position is based in Newport.

This role offers the chance to collaborate with the Race Director, Sailing & Communications Manager, Head Coach, and Training Administrator in enhancing our yachting and centreboard activities. Responsibilities span from on-water assistance and race administration to program evolution and member outreach, providing a varied and impactful experience within the sailing community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and operational assistance to the Sailing Office.
  • Manage race entries, results, protests, safety audits, and handicapping processes.
  • Support and aid in the development of Sail Training Programs, encompassing Schools, Adults, Tackers, Youth Development, and Holiday Camps.
  • Assist with the preparation of race documentation, regatta planning, and event execution.
  • Liaise with club members, volunteers, and external stakeholders to facilitate effective program delivery.
  • Attend committee and coordination meetings, along with select club events.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Substantial administrative experience with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in communication with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database experience.
  • A valid Driver's License and Boat License.
  • A Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable:

  • A tertiary qualification in Sports Administration or a comparable discipline.
  • Prior experience within a yacht club or sailing organisation.
  • Familiarity with the Racing Rules of Sailing and handicapping systems.
  • Experience in delivering youth and adult training programs.
