Commissioning Manager
Fetch Recruitment is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager for an onsite, full-time role in Skye. The salary offered is AUD 140,000 - 160,000 per annum.
Our client, an established commercial builder with a robust pipeline of significant commercial, institutional, and defence projects, requires an individual to manage the planning, coordination, and delivery of building services commissioning from the design phase through to practical completion. This role involves working on technically demanding, high-value projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the full integration, testing, and commissioning of all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire, communications, and security systems. This is a critical position that requires close collaboration with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to deliver buildings that are defect-free and fully operational.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage commissioning strategies, programmes, and project-specific commissioning plans.
- Coordinate commissioning activities across all building services disciplines.
- Lead commissioning meetings with consultants, subcontractors, client representatives, and end users.
- Review design documentation to confirm systems are commissionable and compliant.
- Manage testing, balancing, integrated systems testing (IST), witness testing, and statutory approvals.
- Oversee defect management, commissioning completion, and smooth project handover.
- Ensure the high-quality completion of all O&M manuals, training, asset data, and handover documentation.
- Support project teams throughout delivery by identifying commissioning risks early and implementing practical solutions.
- Cultivate strong relationships with defence stakeholders, consultants, and subcontractors.
Ideal Experience:
- Demonstrated experience commissioning complex commercial building services.
- A background working for a commercial builder, a Tier 1/2 MEP contractor, or a building services consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire, and specialist systems.
- Experience delivering projects in sectors such as hospitals, laboratories, defence, data centres, or education, or other technically complex facilities.
- A sound understanding of commissioning processes, integrated testing, and project handover.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to lead multiple workstreams while maintaining programme and quality outcomes.
- Australian construction industry experience is essential.
- The ability to obtain or currently hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance is highly regarded.
