Genus Infrastructure Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Contracts Administrator to join our high-performing team in Kewdale. This is a pivotal role focused on the effective management, negotiation, and administration of commercial contracts, contributing significantly to project success.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Contracts Administrator will provide essential contract administration support and commercial guidance to operational and project teams. The role ensures adherence to contractual obligations, safeguards Genus' commercial interests, and optimises project performance. Beyond project delivery support, the position will also assist pre-contracts and tender teams by reviewing proposed contractual provisions against Genus' Commercial Framework, aiming to achieve commercially balanced outcomes and maximise value for both Genus and its clients.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Contracts Administrator will play a key role in supporting project teams with commercial and contractual matters across a range of Energy and Rail Infrastructure projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing commercial and contractual advice and guidance to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Administering head contracts and subcontracts to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company policies.
- Drafting and managing Site Instructions, Variations, and Claims under both head and subcontract agreements.
- Assessing subcontractor variations, payment claims, and contractual entitlements.
- Administering upstream claims to protect contractual rights and maximise commercial outcomes.
- Supporting pre-contracts and tender teams by reviewing proposed contractual provisions against the Genus Commercial Framework.
- Assisting with contract negotiations and providing commercial input during tender and procurement activities.
- Attending project management meetings to support change management, commercial decision-making, and issue resolution.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify risks, drive continuous improvement, and resolve contractual issues.
- Monitoring contract performance and implementing practical commercial solutions to support successful project delivery.
Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Contracts, Business Law, or a related discipline. (Project Management or Quantity Surveying qualifications are highly regarded).
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar Contracts Administrator or Commercial role, ideally within energy, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of the AS4000 suite of contracts and relevant legislation, including Security of Payment.
- Proven experience in commercial negotiations, contract administration, and client relationship management.
- Sound understanding of project planning and scheduling principles. (Primavera P6 is desirable).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, organisational, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Solid understanding of Occupational Health & Safety practices.
