Contracts Manager
BGC South Guildford full-time, onsite
This role offers commercial and contract leadership for significant manufacturing capital projects, ensuring all agreements support safe, reliable, and commercially disciplined execution. Responsibilities include leading the creation, review, negotiation, and ongoing management of contracts for both new developments and upgrades, protecting the business from commercial risk while ensuring suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders fulfill their commitments.
Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Shaping contracting strategies for capital projects involving greenfield builds, brownfield upgrades, equipment installations, and infrastructure works.
- Preparing, reviewing, and redlining a variety of commercial agreements, such as construction, EPC/EPCM, supply, and service contracts.
- Leading negotiations with suppliers, contractors, OEMs, and service partners to achieve value-for-money outcomes and balanced risk allocation.
- Managing obligations, milestones, insurances, warranties, deliverables, renewals, and close-out requirements throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Overseeing the end-to-end contract lifecycle for capital projects, from strategy and drafting through negotiation, execution, administration, variations, renewals, close-out, and lessons learned.
- Ensuring contracts are commercially robust, legally sound, operationally practical, and aligned with project scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
- Supporting the successful delivery of greenfield and brownfield capital projects by managing contractual risks related to EPC, EPCM, construction, equipment procurement, engineering services, and site works.
- Driving supplier and contractor accountability through effective commercial governance, performance monitoring, claims management, and proactive dispute resolution.
- Maintaining accurate contract records, registers, correspondence, approvals, and reporting to ensure auditability, governance, and timely escalation of risk.
Skills and Experience Required:
- A strong understanding of contract drafting, redlining, negotiation, risk allocation, indemnities, liability caps, confidentiality, intellectual property, warranties, insurance, payment terms, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Practical knowledge of EPC, EPCM, fixed price, lump sum, schedule of rates, time and materials, equipment procurement, service agreements, and construction contract models.
- Commercial and financial acumen, including the ability to review budgets, costings, tender submissions, claims, variations, milestone payments, price escalation, MOQs, Incoterms, and total cost of ownership.
- The ability to interpret scopes of work, technical schedules, project plans, equipment specifications, quality requirements, and manufacturing operational constraints.
- Strong contract governance skills, including contract registers, obligation tracking, renewal management, contractor performance monitoring, correspondence management, and reporting.
