Site Supervisor | Roadmap to Site Manager
Company: Construction Talent Authority
Location: Adelaide SA Work Type: Full-time Salary: $160,000 – $180,000 + Car / Fuel + Super On-site/Remote: Onsite
This Developer/Builder is on a trajectory to become a leading Australian provider of bespoke commercial, industrial, and high-rise residential projects. With over fifty years of deep involvement in the real estate market, they possess invaluable insights into identifying value, making strategic investments, calculating returns, and analysing cash flows for their clients, advising on optimal locations for buying, building, and leasing. With over 100 staff in Melbourne and approximately a dozen in South Australia, this is an opportune moment to join their team and develop into a Site Manager in the coming years.
Culture This company fosters a unique environment where every individual is treated with familial regard. This culture has been meticulously cultivated, synergised, and harmonised over decades. Drawing on nearly 50 years of knowledge and expertise in development and construction, passed down through generations, they understand the principles required to create, build, and deliver outstanding projects while upholding the core values and ethos of a family builder.
Qualifications and Experience The ideal candidate will possess local South Australian experience as a Site Supervisor on construction projects, ideally with a Tier 2 or Tier 3 principal contractor or developer. Specialisation in both the front-end structure and fit-out phases of a project is naturally expected.
Key requirements include:
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership skills with the capacity to manage and motivate a team.
- Proficiency in interpreting construction plans and specifications would be a plus, but not essential.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make swift, effective decisions under pressure.
- Relevant trade qualifications or equivalent experience in construction management.
Responsibilities The role involves overseeing all on-site activities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Specific duties include:
- Supervising and coordinating site personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers for efficient project execution.
- Ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and promoting a robust safety culture on-site.
- Conducting regular site inspections to monitor progress and the quality of work.
- Communicating effectively with the project manager, site manager, client, and subcontractors to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
- Managing site documentation, including daily logs, safety records, and material orders.
Personal Attributes This role is suited for high performers who are driven to excel, learn, and grow in a traditional, hands-on environment. The emphasis is on proactive contribution and learning through experience, acknowledging that mistakes are part of the process.
Professional Background While the path to Site Manager often evolves from tradesman roles, the preferred candidate for this position would likely have a carpentry background. While not a definitive disqualifier, the company seeks a Site Manager with:
- Understanding of commercial projects exceeding $20 million.
- Knowledge of supervising civil preparation works and steel fixing.
- The ability to autonomously and confidently lead the supervision of formwork carpenters, concreters, and pump operators.
