Burton Demolition And Asbestos Removal is seeking an experienced Demolition Salvage & Asset Recovery Specialist for a full-time, onsite role in Adelaide SA.
This is a pivotal position within our demolition operations, focused on identifying, recovering, and maximising the value of reusable materials, fixtures, and assets prior to demolition commencing on residential and commercial projects across Adelaide.
We are looking for an individual with robust experience in demolition, construction, salvage, or recovery. The successful candidate will be capable of working autonomously, assessing diverse site conditions, and capitalising on opportunities presented by each project. This role extends beyond standard labouring duties, encompassing site assessment, valuable item identification, recovery coordination, sales management, and ensuring value capture before demolition begins.
This opportunity is suitable for an experienced subcontractor seeking consistent work or an industry professional pursuing a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee salvage activities for residential and commercial demolition projects.
- Attend demolition sites before works commence to evaluate recovery potential.
- Identify valuable reusable materials, fixtures, equipment, and assets.
- Develop practical recovery strategies to optimise salvage outcomes.
- Safely remove and recover items, including solar panels, water tanks, hot water systems, sheds, doors, windows, kitchens, cabinetry, timber, steel, commercial fixtures, and reusable building materials, before demolition.
- Photograph, list, and advertise recovered items for sale via online platforms.
- Manage customer inquiries, site inspections, negotiations, and sales processes.
- Coordinate collection, delivery, and transport logistics.
- Maintain precise records of recovered materials, sales, and project outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with demolition supervisors and operational teams to ensure salvage opportunities are realised.
- Identify avenues for improving recovery processes and increasing salvage revenue.
About You:
You are an experienced, practical, and self-motivated individual with a solid understanding of demolition sites, building materials, and the value of recovered assets.
Ideally, you possess:
- Proven experience in demolition, salvage, construction, recycling, or building material recovery.
- Experience working on residential and/or commercial demolition sites.
- Strong knowledge of building materials, fixtures, and assets with resale value.
- The ability to rapidly assess sites and identify salvage opportunities.
- Experience in the safe removal and handling of reusable materials.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to work independently.
- Confidence in interacting with customers, contractors, and buyers.
- Effective negotiation and sales capabilities.
- A current driver’s licence (essential).
- Experience in demolition salvage or deconstruction.
- Knowledge of recycled building material markets.
- Experience buying, selling, or trading recovered materials.
- A forklift licence; a truck and/or machinery licence would be highly regarded.
