Are you a senior structural engineer seeking to expand your career beyond consultancy? Join a well-established construction business delivering a diverse portfolio of building projects across Western Australia. This office-based position offers the chance to lead the design function across multiple projects, working closely with project delivery teams to ensure designs are coordinated, practical, and successfully implemented.

About the Role

As Design Manager, you will oversee the design process from concept through to Issued for Construction (IFC) documentation. This involves managing consultants, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring designs align with programme, budget, and construction requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design from concept through to IFC documentation.
• Manage consultant engagement, scope, and performance.
• Chair and coordinate design meetings, facilitating timely resolution of design issues.
• Review and validate design documentation for compliance, quality, and constructability.
• Provide technical leadership and drive value engineering initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with project managers and delivery teams to integrate design with construction activities.
• Maintain strong relationships with consultants, clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, the National Construction Code, and project specifications.

About You

We are particularly interested in speaking with Principal Structural Engineers, Associate Directors, or experienced Senior Structural Engineers from a design consultancy background who enjoy the technical delivery of projects and are looking to transition into a contractor environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering (essential).
• Demonstrated experience in a senior structural engineering, design management, or design coordination role.
• Strong technical understanding of structural engineering and multidisciplinary design coordination.
• Experience managing consultants and coordinating design across complex building projects.

Preferred Experience

• Experience delivering commercial or industrial building projects.
• Previous experience within a structural engineering consultancy.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards, the National Construction Code, and contemporary construction methodologies.
