About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Desktop Estimator to join our high-performing Melbourne team. Reporting to the National Estimating Manager, this role involves estimating projects for both commercial and domestic building and restoration claims. You will collaborate closely with clients, contractors, and insured parties, producing repair scopes and accurate cost estimates. The objective is to ensure market competitiveness and support our national business growth.
The Role - Desktop Estimator
- Undertake desktop estimates for commercial and domestic building and restoration claims across all Australian states.
- Utilise advanced technical solutions for desktop and virtual assessments.
- Provide detailed causation reports and cost estimates.
- Complete tenders based on supplied scope of works.
- Meet tight deadlines for supplying desktop comparative quotes.
- Conduct strategic reviews of win and loss ratios across our portfolio with the National Estimating Manager.
- Manage client expectations and feedback, building strong customer relationships through communication to ensure optimal customer experience.
- Develop new and leverage existing relationships with key insurance industry personnel.
- Engage directly with field technicians, trade networks, and customers to refine processes and achieve strategic objectives.
About You
- Previous experience enabling identification of damages via digital images and video, and the development of appropriate repair scopes of work and cost estimates.
- Experience in insurance building estimating.
- Excellent computer literacy and technical aptitude to apply the latest technology solutions.
- Very strong communication skills, organisational skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address issues encountered across multiple areas within a complex environment.
- Preferably a trade background and/or demonstrated industry experience.
