Job Description

Environmental Business Partner Transgrid Callaghan

Transgrid's work is fundamental to the lives of millions, energising homes, schools, sports fields, and the wheels of commerce. Join us in powering the future. The energy sector is undergoing significant transformation with a strong focus on renewable energy, driven by government policies promoting increased transmission interconnection between states and the development of renewable energy zones.

The Opportunity

This role will see you supporting the delivery of infrastructure, maintenance, and renewable energy projects throughout NSW. It is a hands-on and dynamic position requiring regular travel to substations, depots, and project sites to ensure environmental compliance and offer practical guidance.

You will contribute to the integration of new renewable energy sources, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar, and wind projects, across both greenfield and brownfield sites onto the Transgrid network. Collaborating closely with internal teams, contractors, and regulators, your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing environmental documentation
  • Conducting site inspections
  • Supporting environmental approvals
  • Providing advice to project and field teams
  • Assisting with asset replacement, refurbishment, and maintenance activities

Your expertise in environmental legislation, spatial systems, and stakeholder engagement will be instrumental in fostering sustainable outcomes across our network.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with experience supporting construction, maintenance, utilities, transmission, or renewable energy projects, including a background in environmental compliance and site-based inspections. You will also possess:

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources Management, or a related discipline.
  • A strong understanding of environmental and safety legislation pertinent to electricity networks or similar infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in spatial systems and software to aid environmental planning and decision-making.
  • Practical experience in environmental impact assessment and stakeholder engagement.
  • A willingness and ability to travel frequently across NSW, including overnight stays at regional sites.

Benefits include access to a range of corporate discounts on retail, utilities, travel, health and wellbeing, novated leasing options, workplace flexibility, and 20 weeks of paid parental leave, among others.

Transgrid supports your career development through ongoing training, workplace mentoring, and opportunities for tertiary education, encouraging you to build a career path that aligns with your aspirations.
