ACEREZ, a collaboration between ACCIONA, COBRA, and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed by EnergyCo as the network operator for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACEREZ consortium will design, build, finance, operate, and maintain this network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, is responsible for the design and construction of the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project. This new transmission network infrastructure will provide a minimum of 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity from 2028, connecting 7.7 gigawatts of wind and solar projects, sufficient to power over 2 million homes annually.
Job Description
This role offers an opportunity to contribute to positive change and the evolution of Australia's clean energy sector. We are looking for experienced Leading Hand Linesmen to lead field crews and execute overhead transmission line construction works for the Central-West Orana REZ Transmission Project.
This is a full-time, remote project position operating on a 14 days on / 7 days off roster. Bus transport is provided from Sydney only, with multiple pick-up and drop-off points between Sydney and the Mudgee region. Applicants located within NSW outside the Sydney transport route will be required to Drive In Drive Out (DIDO) at their own expense. Please note this is not a Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) role. Candidates residing outside NSW will need to arrange and fund their own travel to Sydney or the site if successful.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise crews in the construction of overhead transmission lines.
- Coordinate daily activities to ensure work is delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
- Oversee pole and structure erection, conductor stringing, and associated works.
- Ensure safe work practices and compliance with all project procedures and standards.
- Liaise with supervisors, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
- Mentor and support team members, fostering a high-performance and safety culture.
- Participate in pre-start meetings, planning sessions, and risk assessments.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Linesman, with demonstrated leadership experience.
- Certificate III in ESI - Transmission Overhead (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in overhead transmission line construction.
- Experience in renewable energy projects is highly desirable.
- Current EWP, Working at Heights, and First Aid certifications.
- Additional tickets such as dogging and rigging are highly desirable.
- Full C Class driver's licence at a minimum.
- Construction White Card.
- Own vehicle.
- Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical and police check.
