Plant Operator - Conservation & Pest Management

Toowoomba Regional Council is seeking a Plant Operator - Conservation & Pest Management for a full-time, onsite position based in Charlton.

This role offers a gross weekly salary of $1,307.56, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation. The position is permanent and full-time, operating on a 9-day fortnight with a Rostered Day Off.

About the Position As a Plant Operator within the Firebreak Management team, you will contribute to the Parks and Recreation branch. This team manages three dam estates, various rural and urban parks, and escarpment parks across the region. These areas are vital for recreational pursuits and conservation, requiring specialised fire and biosecurity management that balances community expectations with safety and wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include undertaking tasks to ensure effective fire management trails and control lines within Toowoomba regional Bushland Parks and Dam Estates, as well as maintaining associated fire management assets. You may also be called upon to assist with other bushland park operations. Plant Operators work under general supervision.

What You Will Bring

• A current ‘C’ Class Manual Driver’s Licence.
• A competency certificate for operating a tractor up to 110kW.
• Possession of a current ‘HR’ Class Driver’s Licence, or a willingness to obtain one within 6 months of starting.
• A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SOA) for RIIMP0318F (Conduct Civil Construction Skid Steer Loader Operations), or a willingness to obtain one within 3 months.
• WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or an equivalent, or a willingness to obtain it prior to commencement.
• An Agricultural Chemical Distribution Certificate (ACDC), or a willingness to obtain one within 3 months of starting.
• Experience in operating and performing daily maintenance on tractors (including implements), mowers, and Skid Steer machinery up to 110kW in rough off-road conditions.
• The ability to identify a range of invasive plant species.
• High standards for your work.
• Good communication and customer service skills when interacting with your team, Council, and the community.
• A capacity for teamwork and accountability.
