Precast Estimating and Drafting Trainee
Solid Precast Pty Ltd is seeking a Precast Estimating and Drafting Trainee for a full-time, onsite position at our Smeaton Grange location. This role offers a salary of $25 – $30 per hour.

This is a dual-pathway role providing hands-on experience in both the commercial (estimating) and technical (drafting) aspects of the precast concrete industry. You will work closely with senior estimators and the drafting team, progressively assuming greater responsibility as your skills develop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimating Support: Assist in interpreting architectural and structural plans, performing material take-offs (measuring concrete, steel, and hardware volumes), and preparing quotes.
- Drafting Support: Learn to use CAD software to assist in creating detailed shop drawings, manufacturing layouts, and elevations for precast panels.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate project files, update manufacturing schedules, and manage incoming client variations.
- Collaboration: Liaise with internal production teams, project managers, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
What We Are Looking For:
We are prepared to train the right individual and do not require years of experience. However, to succeed in this role, you should possess:
- Software Aptitude: Exposure to AutoDesk software (AutoCAD, Revit) is highly regarded but not mandatory. Microsoft Office skills are highly desirable.
- Strong Math Skills: Comfortable with basic geometry and spatial measurements, which are crucial for accurate take-offs.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to reviewing plans and numbers.
