Project Engineer | Commercial & Industrial Construction

Design & Build is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join a growing commercial construction business. This role offers the chance to contribute to a strong pipeline of commercial and industrial projects across Western Australia.

As a member of a collaborative Pre-Construction and Delivery team, you will be instrumental in the successful planning, procurement, and delivery of high-quality construction projects from concept to completion. This is a significant opportunity for a motivated Project Engineer interested in working on diverse, technically challenging projects within a team that prioritises collaboration, quality, and career development.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate design, engineering, and project documentation across the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical and design input during the pre-construction phase.
• Manage the procurement of subcontractor and supplier packages, including tendering, negotiations, and contract administration.
• Review designs and documentation to identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
• Assist with project forecasting, programming, budgeting, and cost reporting.
• Prepare, review, and administer project documentation, procedures, and variations.
• Coordinate subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure project milestones are met.
• Maintain construction programs and monitor project progress.
• Manage site inspections, quality assurance, safety compliance, and statutory requirements.
• Oversee site registers, project records, and the compilation of Operations & Maintenance Manuals.
• Support Site Managers and Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery.

About You

• Degree qualified in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Ideally 3–5+ years of experience in a Project Engineer role with an Australian commercial head contractor.
• Experience delivering commercial and/or industrial construction projects.
• A strong understanding of the design and construction process from tender through to project completion.
• Knowledge of contracts, the National Construction Code, Australian Standards, and procurement processes.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in cost control, programming, and contract management.
• Proficiency with Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel is highly regarded.
• Knowledge of the WA subcontractor market will be advantageous.
