A mid-tier commercial head contractor, known for delivering high-specification, landmark structures across Queensland, is seeking a Project Engineer. With a robust pipeline of future work, the company has commenced construction on a flagship $100M high-rise commercial tower situated in Fortitude Valley. This development will feature premium commercial office spaces, a ground-floor retail precinct, and incorporate sustainable design principles. An ambitious, sharp, and driven Project Engineer is sought to join the site delivery team and contribute to the realisation of this significant project.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Project Manager, the role involves overseeing daily site engineering operations and managing packages from structural elements through to high-end finishes. Key duties include:

• Package Management: Assuming full responsibility for civil, structural, and fit-out sub-contractor packages, ensuring their delivery aligns with project timelines and stringent QA standards.
• Technical Support: Reviewing construction drawings, resolving design clashes, managing RFIs, and issuing clear technical directives to site teams.
• Cost & Variations: Assisting the Contract Administrator with the tracking of variations, progress claims, and forecasting procurement schedules.
• Programming & Scheduling: Collaborating with the Site Manager to develop, track, and update look-ahead schedules, ensuring the seamless achievement of milestones.
• Safety & Quality Assurance: Championing a zero-harm culture on-site and ensuring all works strictly adhere to building codes, environmental guidelines, and architectural specifications.

Requirements

To excel in this position, candidates should be adept problem solvers who thrive in dynamic commercial construction environments.

• Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is required.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Site or Project Engineer for a reputable commercial builder in Australia is necessary. Previous experience on projects valued at $40M+ is highly desirable, particularly on multi-level commercial or residential towers.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong command of construction management and programming software, such as Procore, Aconex, and MS Project.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential for managing, negotiating, and fostering strong working relationships with subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
• Local Knowledge: A solid understanding of Queensland building codes and the local Brisbane subcontractor market is highly advantageous.
