A leading self-performing civil contractor is seeking a high-performing Project Engineer to assume significant responsibility for its live metro Brisbane infrastructure projects. This is a key appointment where you will quickly take ownership, operate with genuine autonomy, and ensure continuity during a critical delivery phase. This role is for a Project Engineer ready to operate at an advanced level, demonstrate self-reliance, and lead proactively.

Responsibilities:

• Program Management:
• Three-week lookahead planning
• Resource and procurement planning
• Weekly progress tracking against the contractual program
• Commercial Delivery:
• Cost-to-complete assessments
• Procurement processes
• Managing variations
• Progress claims
• Achieving buying gains
• Client Relationships:
• Managing client expectations
• Conducting site meetings and reporting
• Protecting the contractor's position for future work
• Safety, Quality, and Compliance:
• Conducting audits
• Managing risk registers
• Ensuring adherence to Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
• Managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
• Active leadership on high-risk activities onsite
• Delivery Outcomes:
• Ensuring projects remain on track for time, cost, and quality.

About You:

Essential:

• Proven Project Engineer experience on bulk earthworks, basement, and excavation projects.
• Strong commercial acumen covering cost, procurement, and program management.
• A confident communicator capable of managing stakeholders and client relationships.
• Ability to commence work promptly and thrive in a fast-paced delivery environment.
• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• A current Queensland driver’s licence.

Well Regarded:

• Adjacent earthworks and excavation skills, including shoring and retention systems, dewatering, bulk cut-to-fill and haulage management, and demolition.
• Familiarity with Transport and Main Roads (TMR) specifications and South East Queensland civil delivery.
