AECOM is seeking Project Managers to join a team focused on delivering an inspirational sports and entertainment legacy across Queensland. AECOM, in partnership with Laing O’Rourke, has been appointed by the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) as the Delivery Partner for the $7.1 billion Games Venues Infrastructure Program. This program involves the delivery of 17 new and upgraded sport, recreation, and entertainment venues across Queensland for 2032 and beyond. The role aims to contribute to world-class venues and infrastructure that will leave a lasting legacy for Queensland.
The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects within an integrated delivery partner model or similar. This involves working collaboratively with the client as part of a unified team, ensuring project objectives align with client priorities, and driving performance, governance, and innovation to achieve outcomes on complex, high-profile projects.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight across all program components.
- Ensure delivery aligns with client objectives, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks, reporting structures, and decision-making processes within the integrated team environment.
- Client Engagement:
- Act as a trusted advisor and extension of the client’s leadership team.
- Foster a collaborative, transparent, and high-performance culture.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and community representatives.
- Ensure proactive engagement and issue resolution.
- Technical/Professional Expertise:
- Plan and manage the full project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control, and close-out.
- Oversee planning, design, procurement, and delivery phases.
- Ensure seamless coordination across multiple workstreams and disciplines.
- Drive program performance against schedule, cost, quality, and risk targets.
- Implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Financial/Project Management:
- Own project financial performance, including forecasting, billing, variations, and margin delivery.
Qualifications and Experience:
The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but all applications will be considered.
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in project/program management, engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of relevant experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects.
- Extensive experience in project management for major infrastructure projects, ideally within integrated delivery partner or similar models.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in complex, high-profile environments.
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contractual frameworks for collaborative delivery.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience managing government and public sector clients.
