The Role:
Take the lead in delivering a significant renewable energy project and play a crucial part in its successful outcome. As Project Manager, you will be responsible for project performance across safety, programme, commercial results, quality, and stakeholder management, ensuring efficient and high-standard delivery of works. This is a 6-month contract position with the potential for extension, focused on supporting the delivery of a large-scale wind farm project in regional South Australia. You will collaborate closely with clients, subcontractors, and delivery teams, providing on-site leadership while managing the complexities and rewards of a major infrastructure environment. Based at the project site, this role requires flexibility for regional work and active involvement in daily operations. This position is for an experienced construction leader adept at building high-performing teams, managing project risks, and delivering successful major infrastructure projects, offering a chance to contribute to Australia's renewable energy future and further your career.
Your Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit competitive tender proposals, including quantity take-offs, estimates, methodologies, staging plans, programmes, and risk assessments.
- Review contract and tender documentation to identify scope requirements, commercial risks, opportunities, and compliance obligations.
- Engage with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and construction teams to develop cost-effective and innovative delivery solutions.
- Manage tender processes from initial pricing through to tender reviews, submissions, negotiations, and project handovers.
- Coordinate plant, equipment, and personnel resources to support project delivery while minimising downtime and maintaining productivity.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project programmes, procurement schedules, and short-term look-ahead plans to ensure successful delivery.
- Drive commercial outcomes through effective procurement, subcontractor management, budget control, productivity monitoring, and monthly claim preparation.
- Lead quality assurance activities, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), non-conformance management, document control, and compliance reporting.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring risk assessments, SWMS, environmental controls, and HSEQ requirements are effectively implemented and maintained.
- Identify project risks, opportunities, and potential delivery challenges early, implementing proactive solutions to minimise delays, cost overruns, and rework while maximising project performance and profitability.
- Work across regional project sites as required, including extended periods away from home.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing civil construction projects.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety protocols, and industry regulations.
- Relevant experience in estimating projects greater than $5 million.
- Construction licence - White Card / Red Card etc.
- Australian Driver's Licence.
- Strong experience in project scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
- Ability to lead and motivate diverse teams.
- Proficient in identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Deep understanding of civil engineering principles and construction practices.
- Familiar with project management software and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency in complex situations.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to work in regional locations is essential.
