Senior Project Manager (Client Side) - Newcastle

MMD Recruitment is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager (Client Side) to direct the delivery of a significant data centre project within the Newcastle, Maitland & Hunter region. This contract role is available for an immediate start, with an initial term of 6 months and a strong possibility of extension. It is suitable for a senior professional with a demonstrated history of success in complex, high-value construction projects. In this capacity, you will represent the client, driving results throughout the entire project lifecycle.

About the Role

This position requires you to assume responsibility for a technically intricate data centre project with substantial service requirements. Your duties will include ensuring successful execution across the design, procurement, and construction phases, while maintaining rigorous control over programme, cost, and quality. Operating from a client-side perspective, you will lead stakeholder engagement and provide strategic direction to ensure project objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the complete project lifecycle, from initial planning to final completion.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the client, contractors, consultants, and key stakeholders.
• Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, and resource plans.
• Monitor delivery performance, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Administer contracts, including managing variations, claims, and dispute resolution.
• Ensure adherence to all applicable legislation, codes, and safety requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, progress meetings, and provide reporting to senior stakeholders.
• Drive project outcomes that align with client expectations for time, cost, and quality.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction/project management.
• Proven client-side or principal's representative experience.
• Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale projects (valued between $10M and $50M).
• Experience in data centres, mission-critical facilities, or highly serviced builds is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, contracts, and Australian standards.
• Advanced commercial acumen, including cost control, risk management, and variation management.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Construction, Engineering, or a similar field.
