Senior Supervisor (Mechanical)
Seymour Whyte Constructions is seeking an experienced Senior Supervisor (Mechanical) to join a significant water infrastructure program in Canberra. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a long-term, collaborative delivery partnership focused on enhancing critical wastewater infrastructure to support regional growth and sustainability.
Seymour Whyte, in conjunction with Vinci Grande Projects and Beca, has been appointed by ICON Water to undertake the Design and Construct upgrade of the Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre. This facility is the ACT's primary wastewater treatment plant and the largest of its kind in inland Australia. The four-year project aims to modernise waste handling systems, accommodate future growth, and prepare for potential changes to air emission standards. Located near central Canberra, this upgrade will strengthen and future-proof vital infrastructure for the region.
As a Senior Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in the execution of complex mechanical installations, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Your responsibilities will include leading crews and subcontractors across various mechanical scopes, such as treatment systems, pumps, pipelines, processing equipment, and associated infrastructure.
About the role:
- Lead and supervise mechanical works on site, ensuring alignment with program, quality, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors and self-perform crews for installation and commissioning activities.
- Foster a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all site and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and project teams to manage interfaces and resolve issues.
- Monitor progress, productivity, and resource allocation across mechanical scopes.
- Support the planning, sequencing, and staging of works within a live or complex environment.
About you:
- Proven experience as a Supervisor or Senior Supervisor on mechanical installation projects.
- A background in water, wastewater, civil, utilities, or heavy industrial projects is highly regarded.
- A strong understanding of mechanical systems, including pumps, treatment equipment, dosing systems, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors on complex builds.
- Solid communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- A commitment to safety, quality, and delivering outcomes.
